What Does It Mean To Be A Born Again Christian?

What does it mean to be a born again Christian?

A prominent Pharisee and member of the Sanhedrin (the ruling body of the Jews), Nicodemus came to Jesus and asked about the kingdom of God. Jesus said, "I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives brith to spirit. You should not surprised at my saying, "You must be born again" (John 3:4-7)

The phrase "born again" literally means "to be born from above" in Greek. It is a spiritual transformation, being changed by God into a new creature.

When man sins, he is spiritually "dead"; as the apostle Paul in Ephesians 2:1 well described, "as for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins."

If we want to enter the Kingdom of God and the glory of God (Romans 3:23), Jesus says we should receive spiritual life through Him, which Scripture likens to "rebirth."

And the one who is born again trusts in God, seeks God and believes the truth of God, resisting sin and seeking to do good.

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation: the old has gone, the new has come!" (2 Corinthians 5:17). Trusting Christ who died on the cross for our sin, we also should experience death in sin and rebirth as children of God to enter His Kingdom.
