This WW2 soldier received a Bible while he was a POW

This WW2 soldier was one of the bombers who bombed Tokyo with hatred and vengeance after the attack on Pearl Harbor. But after his plane ran out of fuel and he parachuted into Japan, he was kept as a prisoner of war in a camp for over 3 years. Beaten, starved and tortured, he was dying of loneliness and bitterness before he was given a Bible. Despite being a prisoner, he was freed from the hatred that had ruled his life. Three years after he was set free, he returned to Japan as a missionary. He spent most of his life spreading the Gospel to the people of Japan.
