114-year-old shares secrets to long life
Supercentenarian Bernando LaPallo turned 114 years old on August 17, 2015.
The man who never got sick a day in his life says the secrets to long life are: plenty of organic green vegetables and fresh fruits, pure water, daily exercise and regulated sleep.
Here is a revisit to an interview with LaPallo from when he was 110 years old, in which he gives insight into living beyond 100.
"People ask me what do you do to stay so young," LaPallo explained. "I say, 'Well you've heard the old saying, you are what you eat.'"
Stay away from red meat, french frieds and those things, recommends LaPallo. "Eat properly and get your rest."
He lists five foods to live by: garlic, honey, cinnamon, chocolate and olive oil.
Bernando credits his longevity to advice given by his own father who lived to be 98 years old, "And he taught me how to live, how to eat and to have faith in God and He would take care of me. And so far it has happened."
LaPallo is also an avid reader and keeps his brain busy with crossword puzzles and checkers.
